For the binder of the digipak binder I am going to have the name of the artist and the name of the album. I am going to use the same font and style as the front cover to keep the same branding throughout. The binder is useful as when it is on the shelves, people can easily see the name of the band and the album. I am going to have it in black, as this is the most noticeable colour and is appropriate for the style of the band and genre of music.

In this task I planned what I'm going to feature on the digipak and digipak poster. This has helped as I now know what I'm going to do in advance. I have tried to vary what I put on each panel to keep it interesting and follow the aspects of the genre. I have taken inspirations from professional digipak's so that I make sure I stick to the codes and conventions of digipak's, however I have tried to derive from the standard forms so that mine stands out from the crowd.
We have created shot lists and story boards for our idea so that we go into the filming as prepared as possible, knowing which shots we need to get. This will help us get the maximum quality video as we can concentrate on taking the shots instead of figuring out which shots we need to take.
This task has allowed me to finalise all the details for the use of my actor. I have thought through why he is suitable to play the parts and his talents which make him the ideal actor for our video. I think he will be very good to play the part because he has took part in previous media projects and is a fan of the song we are going to use.
This is the location that we are going house for the narrative part of the video. It is similar to the official video id "Fluorescent Adolescent" by Arctic Monkey's in that it is a rural, unpopulated area. This land is ideal to film in as it supports the narrative of the video and we shouldn't face too many troubles when filming because there are no people about.
I asked for permission to use the land from the land owner. This is always important otherwise it is illegal.
These photos represent the the sort of vibe we are going for with our video. Our actors are going to wear very casual clothing, as this represents the genre of music, as well as the theme of the song. As the song is about them reminiscing of their youth, we want our actors to wear casual, normal clothes that a teenager would wear. The farm aesthetic is also important because this is representative of the youth period the song talks about. We are filming at a friends farm as they have rural land that we want to use. Props we are going to use include barns, yards and hay.
We took some feedback from teachers and classmates and came to the conclusion that we needed to do some rethinking about our idea. We kept a similar concept but developed the idea to have a more clear narrative. We have added a more developed introduction, so that it looks as if our older character is reminiscing about his youth, and then it shows what his youth was like. We didn't have this idea before and now it looks much more clear. This audience feedback was very useful to us and is something that we will be looking to get more of throughout our project.

This task was important to complete so we know what the song is about. When we create our video we need to make sure the visuals link to the meanings of the lyrics, this task will help us to accomplish this. Goodwin's theory will need to be applied to our video.

This task was vital to complete as I have found the key codes and conventions of music videos in the rock genre. When planning and filming my music video I will need to make sure I stick to these codes and conventions so that the video is appropriate for the rock genre of music. This includes editing timings, camera angles, locations, fashion, make up, band and narrative. I looked at three examples of music videos, "Chelsea Dagger", "Pompeii" and "Birch Tree". Things I concluded were that they use simplistic and common camera angles, simple narratives, etc. Nothing was too overproduced and complicated as these are characteristics commonly found in pop videos. I am going to try and keep my video very simplistic to suit the rock genre.
You used to get it in your fishnets
Now you only get it in your night dress
Discarded all the naughty nights for niceness
Landed in a very common crisis
Everything's in order in a black hole
Nothing seems as pretty as the past though
That Bloody Mary's lacking a Tabasco
Remember when he used to be a rascal?
Oh, that boy's a slag
The best you ever had
The best you ever had
Is just a memory and those dreams
Not as daft as they seem
Not as daft as they seem
My love, when you dream them up
Flicking through a little book of sex tips
Remember when the boys were all electric?
Now, when she tells she's gonna get it
I'm guessing that she'd rather just forget it
Clinging to not getting sentimental
Said, she wasn't going, but she went, still
Likes her gentlemen to not be gentle
Was it a mega-dobber or a betting pencil?
Oh, that boy's a slag
The best you ever had
The best you ever had
Is just a memory, and those dreams
Weren't as daft as they seem
Not as daft as they seem
My love, when you dream them up
Oh, where did you go?
Where did you go?
Where did you go? Whoa
You're falling about
You took a left off Last Laugh Lane
You just sounded it out
You're not coming back again
You're falling about
You took a left off Last Laugh Lane
You just sounded it out
You're not coming back again
You used to get it in your fishnets
Now you only get it in your night dress
Started all the naughty nights with niceness
Landed in a very common crisis
Everything's in order in a black hole
Everything was pretty in the past though
That Bloody Mary's lacking in Tabasco
Remember when he used to be a rascal?
Information on the artist
The Arctic Monkey's are one of the biggest Indie Rock artists in the world after releasing five very successful albums. However they came from humble beginning's, playing in clubs and pubs before fame. They signed to Domino Records in 2005, and the band said they were attracted to the DIY ethic of Domino owner Laurence Bell, who ran the label from his flat and signed bands that he liked personally. They have experimented with indie rock, psychedelic rock and hip-hop. Arctic Monkey's were one of the first bands to come to the public's attention via the internet, which suggested they represented the possibility of change in the way in which new bands are promoted and marketed.
Domino Records are now one of the longest running and most successful independent record labels in the UK. They have signed bands such as Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkey's and The Kills. We have asked for permission from the record label to use the song in our project. This is important because we don't own the rights to the song.
These are the brainstorms of three initial ideas that we though of. Each concept has several pros and cons, which made it hard to choose a final idea. We had to think about possible locations, narratives, actors and props etc, which all came into consideration when choosing which song to make a video for. We decided that "Fluorescent Adolescent" by Arctic Monkey's was the best choice because it had a narrative that we thought we could work with and it was quite a flexible song choice. Furthermore we knew actors that knew the song. Overall, we came to the conclusion that it was the best song to make a video for.
